Fr. Paul’s Pittsburgh Spirit Run
Friends in the Passion, I am once again going to ask for your generosity. With the closing of the Spiritual Center on January 1, 2011, I will start a new chapter in my life as a Passionist, priest and person of faith. From January to June I will remain at the Spiritual Center overseeing the building. I will do some local ministry and perhaps get to do a parish mission or two. In June I will get a chance to return to the studies that I gave up eleven years ago when I became director of the Spiritual Center. A few further details need to be worked out but it seems that the provincial will give me the opportunity to finish my degree in preaching.
As you know one of the reasons for the closing of the Spiritual Center is that the Passionists as a community are struggling financially. I want to help support the community so I thought I would use my passion for running as a way of supporting myself and my community. In the past whenever I ran a marathon it was to support the Spiritual Center and the ministry here or our Passionist ministry and work in Haiti. Over the years the support for my marathon runs has been very generous.
One May 15, 2011 I am going to return to my roots. I will run the Pittsburgh Marathon. I thought it would be “cool” to return to my hometown and run the streets, bridges, over and along the rivers I grew up around. It will be a chance to reconnect with and experience the spirit of my first home!
I would also like to make this marathon work for the Passionists. So I am asking you to consider supporting my Pittsburgh Marathon Spirit Run on May 15, 2011. The money raised from this Spirit Run will go to the Passionist Community to offset the cost of this website and to help further the mission and ministries of the Passionists.
You can sponsor my Pittsburgh Passionist Spirit Run by clicking on donation and then making your donation to the Spirit Run. Again, all donation go to the Passionist Community to help keep this website going and to support the many ministries and the mission of the Passion to keep alive the memory of Jesus Christ’s Passion!
An added bonus to sponsoring my Pittsburgh Passionist Spirit Run is to send along your prayer intentions. I carry an Intention Book with me as I train for and run my marathons. For me running is a time of prayer and so when I run I pray for the needs of people who have asked me to pray for them. Si if you have prayer intentions and petitions send them to me I they will be in my prayers each day!
This is a way to help the Passionist at this time move into the future and continue the ministries that we do have and perhaps even start new ones! It also helps me to use one of my passions “running” to help my community the Passionists. Help me to be a responsible Passionist and enliven the life and ministry I have vowed to live and celebrate! As always you are in my prayers as I run and as I begin this new journey in my life!

Peace in Christ’s Passion,
Fr. Paul
